What is CamNest?

CamNest is a camera app for Android with folders. You make folders like Family, Work or Receipts, tap one, and the camera opens. Every photo and video you take is saved straight into that folder.

How do I save photos to a specific folder on Android before I take them?

Use a camera that shoots into folders. In CamNest, make a folder, tap it (or its home screen shortcut) and shoot; the photo is saved in that folder at the moment you take it. Android’s built-in camera apps usually save everything to one camera folder, so you would otherwise sort photos afterwards. More in Save photos to a specific folder on Android.

How are CamNest folders different from gallery albums?

Albums in a gallery app are something you do after shooting: you find the photos and add them to an album. A CamNest folder is chosen before you shoot, so the photo is filed the moment it is taken and there is no sorting step.

Does CamNest replace my phone’s camera app?

No. CamNest has its own camera inside each folder, with photo and video, flash, zoom and resolution settings. Your usual camera app keeps working as before.

Can CamNest record video?

Yes. Each folder can take photos and video, and both are saved into that folder.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. CamNest is an Android app, available on Google Play.

Can I put a folder on my home screen?

Yes. Tap the gear on a folder and choose Add to home screen. Tapping that shortcut opens the camera for that folder.

What other ways are there to open a folder camera?

Long-press the CamNest app icon to jump straight to a folder, or add the resizable CamNest widget, which holds all your folder cameras in one place.

Can I sort photos I already took?

Yes. Import existing photos from your gallery into any folder, and move photos between folders in batches.

Can I rename or reorder photos?

Yes. You can sort photos, batch rename them and set a cover photo for each folder.

Can I share photos from a folder?

Yes. Share photos and videos from a folder to any app on your phone.

Will my photos still show up in Google Photos or my gallery?

Yes. Photos taken with CamNest are ordinary photos on your phone and stay visible in your usual gallery app, such as Google Photos. Nothing is locked inside CamNest.

Does CamNest upload my photos?

No. CamNest has no servers and never uploads your photos anywhere. They stay on your phone unless you share them yourself.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account to create and nothing to sign in to.

Does CamNest have ads or tracking?

No. CamNest has no ads and no tracking. Its Google Play Data safety section says “No data collected” and “No data shared with third parties”.

Does CamNest work offline?

Yes. Taking photos and filing them into folders happens on your phone. CamNest has no account and no servers, so there is nothing it needs to connect to. Buying an upgrade goes through Google Play, which needs a connection.

How much does CamNest cost?

CamNest is free with 2 folders. Pro (about $1.99) gives you more folders and Unlimited (about $3.99) gives you as many as you need. Both are one-time in-app purchases, not subscriptions. Google Play shows the exact price in your currency before you buy.

Is CamNest a subscription?

No. CamNest is free with 2 folders, and the Pro and Unlimited upgrades are one-time purchases.
